The Caspian Legend mosaic wall
Author: Husein Hagverdi

The Caspian Legend mosaic panel is dedicated to a hard, but at the same time vital process of exploration and use of natural energy by a human being. It was created using materials such as marble, granite, local limestone and smalt - glass and ceramic fragments with colour additives. The wall consists of two sides:

On one side the wall, three elements - the Earth, water and sky - have been reflected. Against the background of those elements, the process of human evolution and activities is spread out, which is aimed at managing those powers and transforming them into an energy ensuring the development and progress. The left side of the wall picturizes the civilisation evolution and reflects the mankind striving for research and movement. The inspiration of the artist originates from the petroglyphs (the earliest ones date back to 20,000 years BC) in Gobustan, located near the terminal- the most ancient stratum of Azerbaijan art.

On the other side of the wall the three rhombus girths are reflected which contain the most significant architectural monuments of Turkey, Georgia and Azerbaijan, i.e. Suleymaniyye mosque in Istanbul, cathedral in Metekhi and the Maiden Tower in Baku. Use of the architectural monuments in this composition is greatly symbolic. These constitute certain national indicators and are not only aimed to represent significance and role of those countries in the implementation of such a forward and large-scale project, but also to represent centuries-long cultural relations of the peoples, as well as to demonstrate their common dynamic striving for progress and prosperity.
